@nickymreid I had vegan haggis in Edinburgh - I was skeptical but it was mad tasty

via Twitter for Android in reply to nickymreid from Portland, OR

phone access gives an app access to a device identifier, and SMS access is perhaps operator billing? http://t.co/R0UqMLCw

via Twitter for Android from Portland, OR

@elazar I'd have assumed that's an OS notification, not something an app needs to subscribe to.. but maybe!

via Twitter for Android in reply to elazar from Portland, OR

I don't understand why so many android apps require access to phone status and SMS - is there a reason besides snooping?

via Twitter for Android from Portland, OR

@LagustaBonbon ah :) from the description I thought it was a handful each of 5 different items. good to know!

via Twitter for Android in reply to LagustaBonbon from Portland, OR

@LagustaBonbon HEY SO, could http://t.co/zt24HWLd be customised to be more like a 'one of everything' typed thing? how can I do this?

via Twitter for Mac

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to TCHOchocolate from Portland, OR

@jonathanstark I think 4.2 or 4.3 introduced most of the streamlining in the Organizer. it's not perfect, but it's vastly better than it was

via Twitter for Mac in reply to jonathanstark

@jonathanstark do you use Xcode? because that makes it pretty easy in general these days..

via Twitter for Mac in reply to jonathanstark

@TCHOchocolate ack, nope, not at the moment :( I'm in PDX though, which is more local than what my passport says.. so..kinda :)

via Twitter for Mac in reply to TCHOchocolate

@TCHOchocolate is there any way to customise truffle boxes? can't do nibs or dairy :(

via Twitter for Mac

@egyptynlvr the NY Mets are my favourite squadron

via Twitter for Mac in reply to egyptynlvr

@egyptynlvr yeah but they had to play against someone. or maybe they didn't, which would explain it

via Twitter for Mac in reply to egyptynlvr

@egyptynlvr dunno, people are all about the blazers here. I watched a game and it was pretty dull. people just ran back and forth heaps

via Twitter for Mac in reply to egyptynlvr

@egyptynlvr yeah well NBL would be just as boring anywhere else, which means basketball is to blame

via Twitter for Mac in reply to egyptynlvr

@flickiter happy birthday! let there be many maple cookies in your future!! :)

@mattheworbit haha, I had this conversation: "pretty much everything will make me barf, right" "mate, you're at a pub - what do you expect?"

via Twitter for Mac in reply to mattheworbit

@RELEVANTpodcast you know who would be amazing to hear speak the longest word? Noc, the talking beluga whale

via Twitter for Mac

@bfod hey cool. not that I have hours to waste between lectures at uni anymore.. sigh.

via Twitter for Mac in reply to bfod

@bfod hah, wow, I downloaded sumo.exe last week, was going to look into making an iOS version. amazing timing

via Twitter for Mac

@pickledtreats you *can* file a bug report: bugreport.apple.com though they probably can't fix an issue for you

via Twitter for Mac in reply to pickledtreats

@gilfer next phase: work on your fingerless handbrake-pulling skills

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gilfer

@gilfer @sylmobile yup, I noticed that with @instagram also. I've had it happen before too in other app. irritating.

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gilfer

the battery died on my Nexus 4 while I was using it without any warning. bad? yes. worse? it was plugged in charging. not pleasant at all.

via Twitter for iPhone from Portland, OR

@nzJayZee nope! back in Portland - moved into a new place today! floorbed!

via Twitter for Android in reply to nzJayZee

@szsz whoa rad! I was pretty warm despite basically being winter. I'd have loved to do more :(

via Twitter for Android in reply to szsz

@szsz briefly, for just a few hours. this may/may not have been my fault: instagram.com/p/TKgc8BpTz3/

via Twitter for Mac in reply to szsz

@szsz will do :) would have this time, but I only booked the night before and had 5 days to include Grand Canyon and JTNP. next time!

via Twitter for Mac in reply to szsz

@creativeapps @HOLOmagazine congratulations on being funded! :) can't wait for the first issue

via Twitter for Mac

@szsz oh, haha, no, I'm heading to El Salvador for sun in January! but Spirit has cheap flights, so I could maybe get there if there was one

@stevenfarlie maybe in a couple of months when android is boring again

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to stevenfarlie from San Diego, CA

@davidklemke well no, but just makes me wonder why I'm (and a select few?) ARE having issues. ah well, nexus 4 arrives tomorrow ;)

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to davidklemke from San Diego, CA

SAN ✈ PDX. it's been nice to see you, sun. see you again in January.

via Twitter for iPhone from San Diego, CA

@davidklemke hrm, this was the subthread that I saw when it had fewer posts: news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4914292 - seems many are positive. interesting!

via Twitter for Mac in reply to davidklemke

my nexus 4 shipped a couple of days ago and I didn't even notice. I wonder if I'll notice when it's on my desk

via Twitter for iPhone from San Diego, CA

@davidklemke heh, there was a HN thread about the release, a bunch of people also complained of performance issues (some were okay though)

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to davidklemke from San Diego, CA

@davidklemke it's a pretty clunky app, and raster tiles look pretty horrible. apple's problem is data, not the app itself

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to davidklemke from San Diego, CA

@davidklemke I don't see it showing up much in usage stats.. I used gmaps today and it was okay. I'll keep it around for pubtransport

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to davidklemke from San Diego, CA

@davidklemke opera was #1 in 22 countries in a day or so, back in 2010.. and opera is nowhere near as high profile as googlez to everyone

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to davidklemke from San Diego, CA

@WestCoastyMo there are one or two..I need real internets first

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to WestCoastyMo from San Diego, CA

@davidklemke opera did the same.. does that mean it's a great app? not really. people are curious!

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to davidklemke from San Diego, CA

@WestCoastyMo just did a loop from San Diego to the Grand Canyon!

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to WestCoastyMo from San Diego, CA

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to moodfornoodles from San Diego, CA

@searchingfortao oh yeah, all of North America is stupid expensive for phones :(

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to searchingfortao from San Diego, CA

@moodfornoodles @mattheworbit what's that new place in south Melbourne? I think the gasometer guys..

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to moodfornoodles from San Diego, CA

@searchingfortao (we diagnosed a js error on their site once via twitter, because I'd adblock'd Facebook and it broke something)

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to searchingfortao from San Diego, CA

@searchingfortao yup. I use my phones with them on prepaid. always helpful and responsive via @virginmobilecan too!

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to searchingfortao from San Diego, CA

@mattheworbit make sure you get the agedashi tofu though. everything else is optional.

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to mattheworbit from San Diego, CA

@mattheworbit Japanese food, it's near trippy taco/veganwares

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to mattheworbit from San Diego, CA

@moodfornoodles @mattheworbit I heard the french toast stopped with a menu change a few months back? I'd be stoked to find out I'm wrong

@michaelvillar fileshuttle isn't available on the Australian app store? :(

via Twitter for Mac

@WoodyRoseland no drama! I was involved with CanTeen when I was in oz - can't speak highly enough about them :)

via Twitter for Mac in reply to WoodyRoseland

@Brightbluegirl I think marmite is pretty gross. I know some Americans that like vegemite after not liking marmite and vice versa!

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to Brightbluegirl from Portland, OR

@Brightbluegirl what's the difference between merlot and cabsav? same-ish thing, but completely different if you're used to one..

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to Brightbluegirl from Portland, OR

vegemite toast. for the first time in months. so. good.

via Twitter for Mac

@pickledtreats ah. and do you have to do lessons/instructor stuff to change it over? or is there and easy way?

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to pickledtreats from Portland, OR

@pickledtreats what are the rules on that? I drove on my au license, but I wasn't permanent visa..

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to pickledtreats from Portland, OR

@gsths :D! and chocolate speculoos? because I can't get that here, goddamn

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths duh :) I will make sure of it. it's not even a 'maybe' in my mind, but just a matter of when..

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths (the other two are happening, NL is the only optional one for Feb. I could just do it before/after Serbia in March? hmm)

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths money, mostly. lots of trips!

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths been thinking about that recently. El Salvador in January, NL in Feb, Serbia in March? not sure if I can justify NL.. argh

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths hey, that'd work. no trick here. honest :P

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths there are a mountain of things to send me..

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths heh, I actually went looking for some of that here today :)

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths I'm a huge critic on the same topic, and even I'm down

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@gsths ahhh, I wish I could get ahold of that. had it once in March, but not since :(

via Twitter for Mac in reply to gsths

@pickledtreats I saw pictures of Amsterdam this morning. would not be riding :[

via Twitter for Mac in reply to pickledtreats

@lucyk I'm Australian. riding in snow (and "snow" in general) is just foreign to me :P

via Twitter for Mac in reply to lucyk

@lucyk because being cold is silly, duh

via Twitter for Mac in reply to lucyk

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to ratkins from Portland, OR

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to ratkins from Portland, OR

@ratkins awesome! it would have come in handy last night actually. notjosh at google's mail service

via Twitter for Mac in reply to ratkins

@zaftigvegan oh man, I wish that were law. can you make that law? please?

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to zaftigvegan from Portland, OR

@dewind via pods, yeah. I'll try in a fresh project later and try to diagnose further

via Twitter for iPhone in reply to dewind from Portland, OR

@dewind have you ever seen Xcode errors (despite successful build) with Objection? seems the macros/includes are barfing. 0.14.0 and HEAD

via Twitter for Mac

@conradstoll for $300 (and assuming I can sell for $100-150), it's a great investment until retina next to my 15" MBP

via Twitter for Mac in reply to conradstoll

@conradstoll $310. normally $340 or so, but I'd ordered another model that had run out of stock - negotiated this

via Twitter for Mac in reply to conradstoll

@conradstoll yup. got a Qnix "pixel perfect" in the end. the stand is a bit shoddy, but I have a replacement
